Racing – Arsenal

Racing Club were unlucky to secure a scoreless away draw at Newell’s Old Boys in a hard-fought match last Saturday. Even though they will have felt disappointed after dominating the game, Fernando Gago’s men are on four league matches without defeat, having won two and drawn two in that spell. La Academia accumulated 14 points in the Liga Profesional, which is not enough to be league leaders but the side remain at the top of the 2022 aggregate table, currently qualifying for the 2023 Copa Libertadores. At home, Racing are on 14 domestic matches unbeaten, winning 11 and drawing three.

Sarandi Arsenal registered a disappointing 1-1 home draw against Platense in an entertaining match last Friday. However, that result allows them to make it seven league matches unbeaten (two victories and five stalemates) and also extend their gap over the first relegation spot (occupied by Aldosivi) to six points. El Viaducto have been performing decently in the Liga Profesional, having accumulated 11 points in eight rounds so far. Five of those were managed on away turf as a product of one victory, two draws and one defeat.

If Racing wants to be a serious championship candidate, this is the kind of game where they can’t afford to lose a single point so I think they should beat Arsenal.
