Platense vs Defensa y Justicia
Platense managed a valuable point on their visit to Rosario Central last Sunday, when they registered a 1-1 away draw in an intense match. Despite having won only one of their last five league matches (along with two stalemates and two defeats), El Calamar continue leaving good impressions in the Liga Profesional, accumulating 30 points. This positive campaign allows them to be close to securing their top-flight status for next season. At home, Platense lost only once in this competition, having won four and drawn six.
Defensa y Justicia continue to improve after Sebastian Beccacece’s departure. Last weekend, the team managed to beat Patronato 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Gabriel Alanis and Leandro Otormin in coach Julio Vaccari’s debut. That result represented their third consecutive success in league action as El Halcon made it 28 points in the Liga Profesional, which allows them to hold onto one of the Copa Sudamericana places in the aggregate table. On away turf, Defensa secured ten points in as many games in this competition, winning three, drawing one and losing six so far. Striker Andres Rios is ready to return from suspension.
Platense has slowed down lately now that their goal of staying in 1st division is almost achieved, Defensa has improved and I can imagine that they will be able to take something from this game.
