Platense – Velez

Platense continue making their job to stay safe from relegation threats. Last Sunday, the team secured three massive points by beating CA Central Cordoba 2-0 away, with Ronaldo Martinez and Sasha Marcich scoring. El Calamar made it eight points in six Liga Profesional rounds, having lost only one of the last five in this competition (along with two victories and two draws). In fact, Platense are now on three matches unbeaten at Estadio Ciudad de Vicente Lopez, winning two and drawing one.

Velez Sarsfield returned to winning ways last Sunday, through an enjoyable performance to beat Talleres (leaders before the game) 3-0 at home. El Fortin made it eight points in the Liga Profesional after losing only one of their last five (along with two victories and two stalemates), a streak that allows them to climb into one of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate table. On a sorry note, Velez are now on three away matches without a win, drawing one and losing two in that spell.

I’m still not convinced by this Velez despite their good win vs Talleres last weekend. Platense can be a really tough team, they’ve lost only 1 of 9 games at their own stadium this year and at these odds I think they are worth a bet.
