Patronato vs Banfield
Patronato are showing improvements under recently-appointed coach Facundo Sava. Last time out, the team claimed a highly-celebrated 2-1 home success over Union Santa Fe, which represented their second victory in three games since the new boss’ arrival (along with one defeat). El Patron also stopped a five-game winless streak of two draws and three losses at their own stadium. However, Patronato still have a mountain to climb on their struggle to avoid relegation: with seven points in the Copa Liga Profesional, the side remain bottom in the respective table, six points behind Godoy Cruz who are safe.
Banfield showed a terrible version last time out and succumbed to a deserved 2-0 home defeat to Argentinos Juniors. That result represented their third loss across the last four league matches (alongside one victory). As a result, El Taladro remain on 11 points and are reducing their chances of advancing to the playoffs: they now trail their last league opponents (fourth-placed) by three points.
Patronato has been slowly improving, they come from a very good win that should have raised their confidence, while Banfield had a midweek Copa Sudamericana game and goes to Chile next Thursday so they should rotate some of their regulars.
