Patronato vs Atletico Tucuman
Despite showing a great display of effort, Patronato seem condemned to relegation. Last weekend, the team succumbed to a devastating 2-1 away defeat at Defensa y Justicia, which represented their third consecutive game without a win in league action (one draw and two losses). Facundo Sava’s men made a decent performance in the Liga Profesional so far, accumulating 28 points, but their terrible previous campaigns place them ten points behind safety in the relegation table with six rounds to go. On a positive note, Patronato have been unbeaten in their last seven home matches, winning four and drawing three in that span.Â
Atletico Tucuman took another step towards their biggest milestone in history. Last Sunday, the team showed a solid performance to beat Estudiantes 3-1 at home. Thanks to that success, Lucas Pusineri’s men remain as league leaders on 41 points, two above second-placed Boca Juniors, after five Liga Profesional matches unbeaten (two victories and three draws in that spell). El Decano also won their last away match (at Argentinos Juniors 2-1) to put an end to their four-game winless streak of two stalemates and two losses on the road.
Even if Patronato has been solid this season, these are points Atletico needs to take if they want to win the championship.
