Boca vs Velez
Despite having to contend with several absences, Boca Juniors were still able to beat Godoy Cruz 1-0 away thanks to a goal from Luca Langoni in the first half.. As a result, the team made it ten league games without defeat (seven victories and three draws). The defending champions accumulated 39 points in the Liga Profesional, two behind leaders Atletico Tucuman. At home, El Xeneize haven’t lost any of their last seven league matches (winning five and drawing two in that spell).
Velez Sarsfield finally managed to break their terrible winless streak last Sunday: the team beat Barracas Central 1-0 at home thanks to a penalty netted by Walter Bou after 15 league games without a victory (nine draws and six defeats). Following that result, El Fortin also made it 16 points in the Liga Profesional (with one game in hand), climbing out of the bottom spot (occupied now by Aldosivi alone). On a sorry note, Velez haven’t claimed any triumphs in their last 11 away games in domestic action, drawing six and losing five in that time.
With nothing to play for, I expect Velez to go for the win and to ruin Boca’s chances of fighting for the championship. For the hosts is a must win, so we should see at least a couple of goals.
