Argentine Primera Division: Newell’s – Independiente Odds for November 26, 2024

Newell’s – Independiente

Newell’s Old Boys seem unable to improve at the moment. Last Wednesday, the team suffered another heavy blow, losing 3-2 to CA Central Cordoba at home in an entertaining game under interim boss Gabriel Medina. That result means La Lepra are now on six league matches without a win, drawing one and losing five in that time, which leaves them in the penultimate spot of the Liga Profesional table on 21 points. At home, Newell’s secured a single point from the last nine on offer. Centre backs Gustavo Velazquez and Saul Salcedo are available after playing for Paraguay’s national squad.

Independiente showed their home strength last Thursday, when they managed an important 1-0 home success over Gimnasia LP with Joaquin Laso netting the winner in the first half. Having lost only one of their last 15 league matches (winning six and drawing eight), El Rojo made it 33 points in the Liga Profesional to take another step towards securing their Copa Sudamericana ticket for next season. Independiente lost their last away game to break a six-match unbeaten streak of two wins and four draws as the visiting side.

Newell’s defense has been quite awful lately conceding 17 goals over the last 8 games but they’ve also scored at least once in their last 5 matches so I’ll go for the OVER here because Independiente has been in good form lately and should be able to score here.
