Lanus vs Tigre
Lanus played below expectations last Monday and succumbed to an unexpected 2-0 away defeat to Argentinos Juniors last Monday. Following that result, El Granate saw their six-match unbeaten streak of three victories and three draws in league action coming to an end. Ricardo Zielinski’s men remain on 12 points in this competition and stay occupying one of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate table. On a positive note, Lanus are going through a three-game winning streak at Estadio Nestor Diaz Perez in domestic action.
Tigre are improving after the Copa America break. Last Monday, the team claimed a much-needed 2-1 home success over Deportivo Riestra in a six-pointer regarding relegation after reversing the score. El Matador made it four league matches unbeaten, winning two and drawing two in that spell, to make it nine points, and leapfrogged CA Central Cordoba in the aggregate table to climb out of the relegation zone. Tigre won 2-0 at Argentinos Juniors in their last away game to stop a ten-match winless streak of two stalemates and eight defeats on the road.
Tigre are showing some signs of improvement and for the first time this year they are out of the relegation zone but they can’t relax and need to continue getting points. They’ve conceded at least once in 14 of their last 15 games but also scored in the last 5, and will play against this Lanus that has 11 goals scored and 11 conceded so far in the first 8 rounds, so I’ll go for the OVER because I expect an open game with both teams scoring.
