Independiente vs Union
Independiente showed a worrying version last Thursday, when they were dominated by relegation candidates Sarmiento and will have felt lucky to secure a scoreless away stalemate. However, El Rojo also made it 12 league matches without defeat (winning four and drawing eight), which is enough for them to make it 27 points in the Liga Profesional and to remain into the Copa Sudamericana zone in the aggregate table. At home, Independiente are on nine unbeaten (three victories and six draws since losing to Talleres 3-1 in May). Right back Federico Vera returns from suspension on Tuesday.
Union Santa Fe returned to their usual standards. Last Friday, the team played enjoyable football to beat Newell’s Old Boys 2-0 at home, with Mauro Pitton and Nicolas Orsini scoring. El Tatengue made it two consecutive victories in league action to climb into third spot of the Liga Profesional table on 33 points, just six leaders Velez Sarsfield. In fact, Cristian Gonzalez’s men continue approaching the Copa Libertadores’ zone in the aggregate table.
Independiente has been strong at home without defeats in the last 9 but only won 3 of them and have look mostly poor without even scoring in 4 so I’ll trust Union here who come from a solid win last weekend and are now in 3rd place.
