Huracan – Gimnasia
Huracan wasted a big chance of approaching the top of the league table last Monday, when they had to settle for a scoreless home stalemate against relegation candidates CA Central Cordoba. However, El Globo made it five matches unbeaten in this competition, winning three and drawing two in that time to accumulate 35 points in the Liga Profesional, just three behind leaders Velez Sarsfield. Besides, Frank Kudelka’s men remain occupying one of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate table. In fact, Huracan managed seven points from the last nine available at Estadio Tomas Adolfo Duco. Centre back Lucas Carrizo ruptured his knee ligament.
Gimnasia LP succumbed to an unexpected and heavy blow last Monday, losing 3-2 to Union Santa Fe at home after conceding the winner in the 96th minute. Therefore, El Lobo are now on six league games without a win, with four stalemates and two losses in that time. Accumulating just 24 points in the Liga Profesional, the team remain far away from the continental spots in the aggregate table. On a positive note, Gimnasia have been unbeaten in their last five on away turf, winning two and drawing three.
Huracan has to win here to reach the top at least until Velez plays later and against the poor Gimnasia they should take the 3 points, but considering they won’t have defender Lucas Carrizo who just suffered a long term injury and that they haven’t been that reliable lately, I’ll go for this very low totals line.
