Godoy Cruz – Talleres

Godoy Cruz continue to struggle. The team were lucky to avoid defeat against Sarmiento as visitors, securing a 0-0 draw with goalkeeper Franco Petroli as the standout performer and benefiting from a disallowed goal against their opponents. El Tomba earned their first point in the Torneo Apertura. On a positive note, the team suffered just one defeat in their last four league matches (winning two and drawing one), but they have been inconsistent as hosts, celebrating only one victory in five games (along with two draws and two losses). The club has signed right-back Leonardo Jara from Lanús.

Talleres, last season’s Liga Profesional runners-up, are experiencing a tough start to 2025. On matchday 2, the team played well but ended up losing 3-2 at home to Independiente, conceding the decisive goal in the 91st minute. Alexander Medina’s men remain without points in the Torneo Apertura and have now suffered three consecutive league defeats. One of those losses came in the season opener, a 1-0 defeat to San Lorenzo, which ended a four-match unbeaten run on the road (three wins and one draw). There are no suspensions or new injuries ahead of Tuesday’s match in Mendoza.

After consecutive unfair loses in the first two rounds in games they probably should have won, I think it’s finally time for Talleres to get their first win of the season. Godoy Cruz has been really poor so far, they still won’t have striker Andino, so I’ll bet on the visitors to get the 3 points.
