Gimnasia vs Defensa y Justicia
Gimnasia LP continue to improve game after game. Last time out, they managed to beat Rosario Central 1-0 away thanks to a goal from Ramon Sosa in the 79th minute. Nestor Gorosito’s men climbed into second spot in the Liga Profesional table ont 11 points (two behind leaders) and remain sixth-placed in the aggregate table. El Lobo are on nine league matches unbeaten, having won seven and drawn two. At home, they won the last four over Union Santa Fe, Newell’s Old Boys, Patronato and Racing Club.
Defensa y Justicia fans will have felt devastated after the team’s 1-1 home draw against Velez Sarsfield last Saturday as El Halcon conceded the equaliser in the 90th minute. They accumulated only four points in the Liga Profesional and are winless in the last six league games, drawing four and losing two in that spell. However, Defensa continue occupying one of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate table thanks to their convincing campaign in the last tournament. On away turf, the side drew one and lost two of the last three in domestic action. Walter Bou (to Velez Sarsfield), Carlos Rotondi (Cruz Azul, Mexico), Francisco Pizzini (Talleres) and Gabriel Hachen (free agent) have all left the club.
Gimnasia in a great run should be able to beat this Defensa y Justicia in rebuilding mode that lost so many important players.
