Estudiantes vs Barracas Central
Estudiantes are finding it tough to secure victories in the league. Last Sunday, the team succumbed to a 2-1 away defeat to Tigre, which extended their winless streak to five Liga Profesional games (one draw and four losses since beating Sarmiento 2-1 at home in round three). As a result, El Pincha remain on eight points in this competition and couldn’t approach the Copa Libertadores places in the aggregate table. Estudiantes have been irregular even at home so far, grabbing five points from 12 on offer.
Barracas Central’s three-match unbeaten streak of two victories and one draw in league action came to an end last Saturday, when the team were beaten by Argentinos Juniors 3-1 playing as hosts at All Boys. El Guapo remain on nine points in the Liga Profesional, but they are for now safe from potential relegation threats, having secured 28 points in 22 games on their return to the top flight. On away turf, Alfredo Berti’s men are still unbeaten in this competition, having claimed one victory and two draws.
Barracas has scored in every game this season but they also concede a lot, while Estudiantes won’t have two of their best defenders so I expect this to be an open game with goals.
