Defensa y Justicia vs Platense

Despite having taken the first lead, Defensa y Justicia ended up losing 2-1 away at Sarmiento last Thursday in a six-pointer regarding the tickets for the playoffs. As a result, the team have been displaced from the qualifying spots as they remain on 18 points, two behind fourth-placed Argentinos Juniors, having won only one of their last five league games (along with two draws and two defeats). Furthermore, Defensa are on three winless matches at home in domestic action, drawing two and losing one since beating Gimnasia LP 3-2 in round four.

Platense recently-appointed coach Omar De Felippe has a lot of work to do to find his team’s best version. Last Tuesday, the side lost 3-0 at home to Gimnasia LP to make it eight league games without a win (earning a single point since beating Sarmiento in round three). Following this terrible run, El Calamar have dropped down to the 24th place in the relegation table, accumulating only eight points in 11 games this term. On away turf, El Calamar are on nine matches without a win, drawing four and losing five in that time.

This could be the last chance for Defensa y Justicia to get into the playoffs zone, and although they’ve been struggling lately they should be able to beat this very poor Platense at home.
