Aldosivi vs Independiente
Aldosivi new coach Martin Palermo had a disappointing debut. The team had a terrible afternoon on their visit to Sarmiento and ended up losing 3-0. It was their eighth consecutive defeat in the Liga Profesional, which means El Tiburon remain bottom in the relegation table (and will remain there after Sunday’s game even if they win), having earned only 13 points in this tournament. Four of those eight consecutive losses took place at Estadio Jose Maria Minella after Aldosivi’s 3-0 success over Colon in August. Left back Emanuel Insua and right back Emanuel Iniguez are now suspended after reaching the yellow-card limit.
Independiente are now on three league matches without a win (taking only two points in that span) following their 1-1 home draw against Gimnasia LP last Monday. Following this negative run, El Rojo accumulated 24 points in the league table, running almost out of chances to fight for the title. They also remain out of the Copa Libertadores’ spots in the 2021 aggregate rankings. On a positive note, Independiente lost only once on the road in this tournament, having claimed three victories and three draws.
Aldosivi is simply the worst team in this league, and Independiente should take advantage of them to finally win a game again.
