Central Barracks – Independent

Barracas Central are currently performing their best ever campaign in the top flight. Last Thursday, the team showed an impressive performance to beat newcomers Independiente Rivadavia 3-1 away. Therefore, they climbed into second spot in group A on 15 points as a result of a six-match unbeaten streak of four victories and two draws since losing to River Plate 2-0 at Lanus in round two. Afterwards, they won both games as the hosting side (played at Huracan).

After their heartbreaking loss in the city derby, Independiente produced a good recovery last Saturday. The team managed a massive 2-1 home success over Argentinos Juniors after reversing the score to make it three victories and one draw across their last five league games (along with a single defeat). As a result, El Rojo became leaders in the group A table on 16 points. Independiente remain unbeaten on away turf in 2024, having won three and drawn one without even conceding so far.

Barracas are probably the biggest surprise so far this season when they were expected to be a clear relegation candidate, but they have only one defeat so far this season after 8 games. Independiente has been good as well and they both are inside playoffs spots so neither will see a draw as a bad result coming from good wins during the weekend, so even if Independiente has been great when playing away, I like these odds for the hosts not to lose.
