Belgrano vs Talleres
Belgrano finally celebrated their first victory of the season last Monday, when they played an excellent game to thrash Sarmiento 4-1 at home despite having conceded the first strike. As a result, El Pirata made it five points in six matches to escape relegation danger via the aggregate table. In fact, Guillermo Farre’s men put an end to a seven-match winless streak of two draws and five losses in league action. Belgrano lost only one of their last four as the hosting side, along with two victories and one draw. Striker Lucas Passerini returns on Saturday after serving his one-game suspension.
Talleres have been displaced from the playoff zone in group A last Monday, when they deflated their performance and suffered a deserved 2-1 away loss to Barracas Central (at Huracan). That result put an end to their four-match unbeaten streak of three wins and one draw, which left them on ten points in the Copa Liga Profesional, trailing fourth-placed Argentinos Juniors by one. Talleres claimed a single win across their last nine away matches, along with two stalemates and six defeats.
Belgrano are coming from a big win 4-1 without their top scorer who will be back today for the big Cordoba derby. Talleres has been disappointing when playing away so I expect the hosts to at least avoid a defeat on what should be a very balanced game.
