Argentinos Jrs vs Platense

Argentinos Juniors are finding trouble to handle the relevant absences in their squad. Last Sunday, the team showed a poor performance and ended up losing 1-0 away at third-placed Talleres, which represented their second consecutive defeat in league action. In fact, El Bicho won only one of their last seven Liga Profesional games, drawing three and losing three in that time. Gabriel Milito’s men remain on 23 points in 18 rounds, still out of the Copa Sudamericana spots. To make matters worse, Argentinos are on three winless matches at home in this competition, drawing one and losing two. Gabriel Avalos, Miguel Torren and Federico Redondo are still unavailable due to different reasons.

Platense keep on fighting to avoid relegation. Last Saturday, they secured a massive 1-0 home success thanks to a strike from Nicolas Servetto in the third minute of the game. That victory means El Calamar took six points from the last nine on offer in league action (two wins and one loss) to accumulate 23 in 18 rounds, a more than decent campaign that allows them to be just two behind the last safe spot in the point-average table, occupied by CA Central Cordoba. On a sorry note, Martin Palermo’s men are on four consecutive defeats on the road.

Big rivalry between these two teams, so this is the game neither wants to lose. Argentinos is the best of the two but they have important missings in defense and attack, so I have to expect a very tight game where both will be happy with a draw.
