Arsenal vs Lanus
Sarandi Arsenal put up a good fight at River Plate last Sunday, but couldn’t stop their opponents’ offensive power and ended up losing 1-0. Following that loss, the side are now on nine league games without a win (drawing four and losing five) and remain bottom in the league table on eight points (they also are the worst team in the aggregate table).
Lanus are no longer league leaders following their 2-1 home defeat to Newell’s Old Boys last Monday. That loss stopped their four-game unbeaten streak of three victories and one draw in the Liga Profesional and also dropped them down to fourth spot of the league table on 23 points, trailing leaders Talleres by three. To make matters worse, Lanus remain out of the Copa Libertadores’ rankings in the aggregate table. On a positive note, Luis Zubeldia’s men have been confident on away turf in this competition, having registered four successes and a single defeat so far.
Lanus has the 2nd best attack of the league with 22 goals scored in 12 rounds, but they are also the worst defense in the top 10 with 18 goals conceded. Arsenal couldn’t score in the last 6 but this looks like a good opportunity for them to break this awful run, and they will definitely concede against a powerful attack that includes the league’s top scorer.
