Atletico Mineiro claimed an easy 2-0 home win over Botafogo to make it 3-0 on aggregate three weeks ago to advance to the Quarterfinals of Copa Sudamericana. Last Saturday, a mixed XI lost 1-0 at Athletico Paranaense, which stopped an eight-match unbeaten run in all competitions with six victories and two draws. Therefore, the team are now in fourth place of the Brazilian league table on 27 points in 15 weeks, five behind leaders Santos. Atletico Mineiro is undefeated in their last five home matches, with four successes in that span (including the last three).

La Equidad is in the quarter-finals of the Copa Sudamericana for the first time in the club’s history thanks to their 2-1 home victory over Royal Pari from Bolivia (4-2 on aggregate). However,  they are finding trouble at the moment. Last Saturday, the team lost 3-2 at Millonarios to make it four winless games in all competitions (one draw and three defeats). La Equidad is now occupying the penultimate spot of the Torneo Clausura table, with only six points in as many rounds. They also are on four losses in a row in all competitions.

Atletico Mineiro is clearly the better side here and should get a solid win before they go to Colombia.
