Newell’s vs Huracan
Newell’s Old Boys are going through a difficult moment. Last Friday, the team were dominated from beginning to end and suffered a deserved 2-0 away defeat at Union Santa Fe. As a result, La Lepra made it three league games without a win, drawing one and losing two. Having earned just 21 points in 20 Liga Profesional rounds, they are virtually out of the fight for a continental ticket for next season. On a sorry note, Newell’s have been unbeaten in their last four at home, with two victories and two draws since losing to Racing Club in August. Defensive midfielder Rodrigo Fernandez is available for Tuesday after serving his one-game suspension.
Huracan continue wasting chances in their fight for the title. Last Friday, the team showed a disappointing performance and registered a sorry 0-0 home stalemate against Gimnasia LP. Nevertheless, El Globo are on six league matches unbeaten, winning three and drawing three to make it 36 points in the Liga Profesional table, trailing leaders Velez Sarsfield by three. In fact, El Globo are also occupying one of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate rankings. Huracan lost only one of their last ten away games, along with three victories and six stalemates. Playmaker Alan Sonora will rest. Winger Walter Mazzanti has served his one-game suspension and is available.
Huracan didn’t lose away in a while and they should be able to at least get a draw here against this Newell’s who are contenders for being one of the worst teams in the league right now.
