Argentinos Jrs – Central Cordoba

Argentinos Juniors succumbed to an unexpected 1-0 away defeat to Belgrano in MD4 despite playing against ten men for over 50 minutes. That result means El Bicho remain on six points in the Liga Profesional after winning two and losing two so far, a campaign that is not yet enough to climb into one of the Copa Libertadores berths in the aggregate rankings. On a positive note, Argentinos remain unbeaten in their last ten home matches in domestic action, winning eight and drawing two in that time. Last Wednesday, they beat second-tier side Atletico Rafaela 1-0 in the Copa Argentina second round.

CA Central Cordoba are still finding trouble under recently-appointed coach Lucas Gonzalez Velez. Last time out, the team ended up losing 4-2 to Talleres at home in an entertaining match. That result keeps them as the only team who remain pointless in four rounds of Liga Profesional action. In fact, El Ferroviario made it nine league games without a win, drawing three and losing six, which places them just five points above bottom-placed Tigre in the aggregate table. On away turf, Central managed a single point from the last 12 on offer since beating Lanus 1-0 in March. Thiago Nuss and Jose Gomez remain out injured.

Central Cordoba are arguably the worst team in the league right now after losing in the first 4 rounds and I don’t think how they will be able to avoid a defeat here against this Argentinos Jrs that is extremely solid at their own stadium where they have 8 wins and 2 draws in the last 10 games.
