Atletico Tucuman vs Platense
After their promising start, Atletico Tucuman returned to their usual and poor standards in MD2, succumbing to a deserved 2-0 away defeat at Talleres. As a result, El Decano remain on three points in the Liga Profesional and stay threatened by relegation, leading bottom-placed Tigre in the aggregate table by seven points after winning two, drawing two and losing two of the last six in league action. On a positive note, Atletico have been unbeaten in their last three at home, winning two and drawing one. On Wednesday 22, Atletico lost 2-1 to Gimnasia LP in the Copa Argentina second round. Centre back Gianluca Ferrari remains sidelined.
Platense fans will have felt unlucky last time out, when the team created the better chances but were ineffective up front and ended up drawing 0-0 against Independiente at home. Following that result, El Calamar took their first point in Liga Profesional action and remain safe from relegation threats after losing only one of the last four league games (two victories and one stalemate). Platense lost 2-0 at Newell’s Old Boys in their last away game after three road matches unbeaten (winning two and drawing one).
Atletico are coming from a poor semester but they have enough to be a better team, and since the coach change they are slowly using better their potential. Their last home game was a massive win against Boca, and they didn’t play bad at Talleres despite the defeat, so I’ll trust them to win here against this Platense that are not the same team when playing away.
