Union vs Barracas Central
Union Santa Fe managed an important point on their visit to Instituto last time out, drawing 1-1 in an entertaining match. El Tatengue made it three league matches unbeaten (two victories and one stalemate) and accumulated four points in the Liga Profesional table, which places them just three points behind the last Copa Sudamericana spot in the aggregate rankings. Union succumbed to a single defeat across their last six home matches, winning three and drawing two in that spell. Coach Cristian Gonzalez will pick from all his regulars on Monday.
Barracas Central couldn’t hold onto their lead and ended up settling for an unexpected 1-1 home stalemate against relegation candidates Sarmiento (at Huracan) last time out. However, El Guapo made it four points in two Liga Profesional matches and remain occupying one of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate table after succumbing to a single defeat across their last seven league games (four victories and two draws). In fact, Barracas are unbeaten in the last three away matches, winning two and drawing one.
It feels like Barracas are going back to the mediocre team they should be according to the poor squad they have. They were lucky to get a win in the 1st round at Godoy Cruz, and couldn’t even beat Sarmiento, one of the worst teams in the league, last week. Union at home are strong, they have very good offensive power with playmaker Luna Diale and strikers Orsini and Balboa, and I expect them to win here.
