Talleres (Argentina) – Barcelona (Ecuador)
Talleres secured an easy 2-0 away success at CD Cobresal in round three to stay as group B leaders on seven points, taking a five-point gap over Barcelona SC in third, which means they will secure a spot in the round of 16 in the event of winning here. Still waiting for the Liga Profesional to start, La T made it 12 matches unbeaten in all competitions, winning six and drawing six in that spell. At home, Walter Ribonetto’s men haven’t lost any of the last seven, with five victories and two draws since losing to Gimnasia LP 1-0 in January.
Meanwhile, Barcelona SC took a big step back in their fight to go through the group stage following a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Sao Paulo FC. El Idolo remain on two points, four behind their last opponents, who are sitting in second place in group B. However, they have been unbeaten since then. Barcelona won 3-1 away at Delfin SC last Saturday to make it three games without defeat, winning two and drawing one. On away turf, the side haven’t lost any of the last six (three victories and three stalemates).
A win here for Talleres would put them in the next round and they should be able to get it as they are definitely a better team than this irregular ecuadorian team that won’t have striker Francisco Fydriszewski who has scored their only away goal so far in this competition.
