Copa Sudamericana: Sportivo Trinidense (Paraguay) – Boca (Argentina) Odds for May 8, 2024

Sportivo Trinidense (Paraguay) – Boca (Argentina)

Sportivo Trinidense are still alive in the Copa Sudamericana following their much-needed 2-0 home success over Bolivia’s Nacional Potosi in week three. The team secured their first three points in the competition to climb into third spot in group D, just one behind Boca Juniors in second. Last Saturday, they settled for a scoreless away stalemate at Tacuary to make it three matches unbeaten in all competitions (two victories and one stalemate). However, El Triki occupy the penultimate spot in the Paraguayan Torneo Apertura table on 11 points after 16 rounds. Trinidense also are on two consecutive successes as the hosting side without even conceding.

Boca Juniors succumbed to a heavy blow in their last Copa Sudamericana match, losing 4-2 to Fortaleza EC away in Brazil, which left them in second spot of the group D table on four points, trailing leaders by five with three rounds to go. A few days later, Diego Martinez’s men lost to Estudiantes on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the Copa Liga Profesional semi-finals in Cordoba. Overall, El Xeneize lost only one of their last four competitive matches, winning two and drawing one. On away turf, Boca won just two of the last eight, along with two stalemates and four losses.

If Boca doesn’t win they could be in big trouble and they will be out of chances of advancing directly to the Round of 16 of Copa Sudamericana. They’ve improved a lot lately and were very unlucky to lose in the semifinals of the argentinean league against Estudiantes on a penalties shootout, so I’ll trust them to recover from that elimination and take the 3 points they need.
