Instituto took a step back in the context of a great campaign last Saturday, when they succumbed to a narrow 1-0 away defeat to Rosario Central in an even match. That result put an end to their two-match winning streak and displaced them from the playoff spots in group A as La Gloria remain on 17 points in ten rounds of Copa Liga Profesional action, trailing fourth-placed Independiente by one. Velez and Instituto are fighting to get a playoff spot, Velez is in 5th place tied with Independiente who lost on Friday and Instituto in 6th one point behind, so a win here would put them within the top 4 but a draw would keep them alive as well so even if Velez are in great form, I’ll trust Instituto to avoid a defeat here and continue their historic season.
