Argentine Primera Division: Racing vs Tigre Odds for January 31, 2024

Racing – Tigre

Racing Club coach Gustavo Costas started his third spell at the club in a disappointing way: the team played a poor match and succumbed to an unexpected 1-0 home defeat to Union Santa Fe. That loss broke La Academia’s seven-match unbeaten run of three victories and four stalemates in regular time. In fact, it also stopped their positive streak of two wins and one draw at Estadio Eva Peron. Centre back Leonardo Sigali succumbed to a muscle injury against Union Santa Fe and will miss out on Wednesday. Nazareno Colombo, who could have replaced him, is also out injured.

Tigre coach Nestor Gorosito opened up his third spell at the club with a disappointing scoreless home draw against Sarmiento last Thursday: in fact, the visitors deserved more. El Matador collected their first point in group B but they are now winless in the last three in league action, taking two points from nine on offer in that time. Furthermore, Tigre lost four of their last five on away turf, just beating Belgrano 3-0 in that stretch. Attacking midfielder Gonzalo Maroni returns after missing the last game due to a muscle problem.

I still can’t believe Racing and their strong attack couldn’t even score a goal at home against Union, and I don’t think it will happen two games in a row. They will also have important missings in defense with captain Leonardo Sigali injured as well as his usual replacement Colombo, so I have to expect at least a couple of goals here with Tigre also having playmaker Gonzalo Maroni ready to debut.
