Lanus vs Defensa y Justicia
Lanus continue to find it tough in the Copa Liga Profesional. Last Saturday, they were dominated from beginning to end and succumbed to a devastating 1-0 away defeat at Banfield in a thrilling derby. El Granate remain without a win in this competition, having drawn three and lost four, which places them bottom in group B on three points. However, the side remain occupying one of the continental spots in the aggregate table. At home, Lanus managed only two points from nine on offer so far as a product of two stalemates and one loss. Juan Sanchez Mino and Juan Caceres are suspended for Saturday as they were sent off at Banfield.
Defensa y Justicia are going through a little slump in the Copa Liga Profesional. Last time out, coach Julio Vaccari fielded an alternative XI and the team ended up losing 1-0 away at Sarandi Arsenal, the worst team in the league at the moment. El Halcon remain on nine points in group B, which displaced them from the playoff spots. Having lost their last two in league action, the side are still occupying one of the Copa Libertadores zone in the aggregate table, leading Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors and Estudiantes by two points. Defensa are without a win in the last five domestic games on away turf, having drawn two and lost three in that time. On Wednesday 4, Defensa drew 0-0 as hosts against Ecuador’s LDU Quito at Lanus in the return leg of the Copa Sudamericana semi-finals.
Despite being eliminated of Copa Sudamericana, Defensa played a good game and should have won. They are not at their best moment but they are definitely better than this Lanus that lost the derby at Banfield last week and just can’t wait to see this season finishing as soon as possible.
