Barracas Central vs River Plate
Barracas Central centre back Francisco Alvarez netted a highly celebrated strike in the 85th minute to give his team a massive 1-1 away draw at Racing Club in round 21. Even though El Guapo are now winless in their last three league matches (drawing two and losing one), the result is good news for them as Sergio Rondina’s men made it 24 points in the Liga Profesional table, holding a six-point gap over the relegation spot in those rankings. In fact, Barracas have been unbeaten in their last four home matches, with two wins and two draws since losing to Defensa y Justicia 2-0 in April. Centre back Nicolas Capraro saw a red card at Racing Club and is now suspended.
River Plate showed an enjoyable display of football again in round 21, when they reversed the score to beat newly-promoted side Instituto 3-1 at home and take another step towards the league title. El Millonario made it five league matches unbeaten, winning four and drawing one in that time to make it 50 points, opening a ten-point gap over second-placed Talleres with six rounds to go. River also have been the best away side in the Liga Profesional so far, winning seven, drawing two and losing two this term. On Tuesday 27, River beat Bolivia’s The Strongest 2-0 at home in a Copa Libertadores group game, securing their ticket to the round of 16. Centre back Leandro Gonzalez Pirez is now affected by a muscle injury and will miss out on Saturday.
River is just 1 or 2 weeks away from winning the championship, they are dominating every rival and they have the best attack of the league with 39 goals scored in 21 games so I’ll go for the OVER here as I expect to see an open game where the visitors should show their quality and because both will miss one important defender.
