Tigre (Argentina) vs Deportes Tolima (Colombia)
Tigre played one of their best games of the season in the Copa Sudamericana week three, when they secured a massive 3-0 away success at Academia Puerto Cabello. That success allowed them to climb into second spot of the group D table on six points, four behind leaders Sao Paulo and two above Wednesday’s opponents (both have already played in round four). However, El Matador are winless since then: on Saturday night, they drew 0-0 against relegation candidates Atletico Tucuman at home to make it three competitive games without a win (two stalemates and one loss). Diego Martinez’s men are occupying 14th spot of the Liga Profesional table on 22 points. At home, Tigre are on four games unbeaten, winning two and drawing two.
Deportes Tolima had to settle for a scoreless draw against leaders Sao Paulo from Brazil, a result that left them in the third spot of the group D table on four points, two behind second-placed Tigre. Last Wednesday, the team put an end to their Torneo Apertura campaign with a 2-2 home draw against Atletico Nacional, ending in 13th place of the league table on 24 points in 20 matches. El Pijao registered four stalemates across their last six competitive matches, along with one win and one draw. On away turf, Tolima are without a win in the last four, drawing one and losing three.
Deportes Tolima are depleted due to injuries, with more than 10 players missing so I expect Tigre to take advantage of this and take a very needed win.
