Argentinos Jrs (Argentina) vs Corinthians (Brazil)
Argentinos Juniors had to settle for a 2-2 away draw at Uruguay’s Liverpool FC despite leading on both occasions in week three. However, the team looks in good shape to advance to the Copa Libertadores’ round-of-16 as they are group E leaders on seven points, three above Wednesday’s opponents who are third-placed. On a sorry note, El Bicho lost 1-0 to Boca Juniors at home last Friday, dropping down to the 11th place of the Liga Profesional table. Gabriel Milito’s men claimed a single victory across their last six competitive games, drawing three and losing two. At home, they have been winless in the last three, with one stalemate and two defeats.
Corinthians SC succumbed to a devastating 2-1 home defeat to Independiente del Valle three weeks ago and now they face a tough task to advance to the next round. Following that result, the team are third-placed on three points, three behind their last opponents who are currently qualifying. On Sunday, O Timao lost 1-0 away at Flamengo, which left them into the relegation zone in the Brasileirao table, having taken five points in seven rounds so far. In general terms, Corinthians are on seven winless matches in all competitions, drawing two and losing five, and they also lost their last six on away turf.
Corinthians have been awful so far this season and that are almost in a must win situation here so even though I think this should be a home win for the more solid Argentinos Jrs, I’ll go with the OVER as I can imagine that the visitors will take risks at some point.
