Platense vs Estudiantes
Platense fans will have felt delighted after the team’s 2-0 away success at Argentinos Juniors in an intense derby last Saturday thanks to goals from Nicolas Morgantini and Ayrton Costa. El Calamar continue performing quite well in the Liga Profesional, accumulating 25 points in 16 rounds after losing only one of their last four matches in this competition, along with two victories and one draw. As a result, Omar De Felippe’s men seem safe from potential relegation threats at least for now. Furthermore, Platense have been unbeaten in their last nine matches at Estadio Ciudad de Vicente Lopez, winning three and drawing six.
Estudiantes made it two victories in a row last Sunday, when they beat Patronato 1-0 at home thanks to a goal from Manuel Castro in the first half. Following a positive streak of three wins, two draws and a single defeat across their last six league matches, El Pincha accumulated 22 points in the Liga Profesional to continue approaching the Copa Libertadores berths in the aggregate table, trailing the last qualifying spot (occupied by Gimnasia LP) by four points. On a sorry note, Estudiantes are on six winless matches on away turf in league action, having drawn one and lost five.
I have to expect a tight game here as that’s the way both play, but considering Platense has been strong at home and Estudiantes not so good away, these odds on the hosts look really tasty.
