Patronato vs Union
Patronato put up a good fight on their visit to Estudiantes last Sunday, but they ended up losing 1-0 after conceding early in the game. That defeat put an end to their five-match unbeaten streak of two victories and three draws in the Liga Profesional. El Patron’s campaign has been well so far, accumulating 23 points in 16 matches, but they are still occupying the bottom spot of the relegation table, sitting nine points behind the first safe place at the moment. On a positive note, Facundo Sava’s men are on four games without defeat at their own stadium, having won three and drawn one.
Meanwhile, Union Santa Fe continue going through difficult times. Last Sunday, the team showed a poor version and registered a scoreless home draw against relegation candidates Aldosivi, which represented their fourth consecutive league game without a win (taking a single game in the process without even scoring). As a result, El Tatengue are on 22 points in the Liga Profesional (with one game in hand), which is not enough to occupy one of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate table. On away turf, Union are on three winless games, drawing one and losing two in that spell.
Patronato knows it’s almost impossible to avoid relegation but they are giving their best, playing good football and getting more points than expected, and I think they should be able to beat this irregular Union at home.
