Union vs Gimnasia
Union Santa Fe’s seven-match unbeaten streak of five victories and two draws in league action came to an end last Sunday, when the team showed a poor performance and ended up losing 2-0 away at Argentinos Juniors. Despite that loss, El Tatengue continue producing a remarkable campaign in this competition, accumulating 21 points even with one game in hand, which allows them to occupy one of the Copa Sudamericana places in the aggregate table. At home, Union are on four domestic matches without defeat, winning three and drawing one since losing to River Plate 5-1 in round four.
Thanks to a strike from Leonardo Morales, Gimnasia LP secured an important point on their visit to Velez Sarsfield last Sunday, when drawing 1-1. In fact, El Lobo remain second-placed in the Liga Profesional, accumulating 25 points (three behind leaders Atletico Tucuman) after four matches unbeaten in this competition (three victories and one stalemate). Furthermore, Nestor Gorosito’s men continue sitting in one of the Copa Libertadores berths in the aggregate table. On away turf, Gimnasia managed four points from the last six on offer.
Once again I’m going to trust this solid Gimnasia not to lose to stay close to the top places in the league.
