Lanus vs Velez
Lanus are still struggling to find their best version. Last Sunday, the team couldn’t hold onto their lead and ended up losing 2-1 away at Godoy Cruz, which represented their fourth consecutive defeat in league action. As a result, El Granate are occupying the penultimate spot of the Liga Profesional table, having earned only five points in eight rounds, which also keeps them out of the fight for the continental tickets (their main aim when the season started).
With striker Abiel Osorio netting the equaliser in the 93rd minute, Velez Sarsfield rescued a home point against River Plate following a 2-2 draw last Sunday. However, the team also extended their winless streak to four league games, drawing two and losing two in that spell. As a result, Alexander Medina’s men continue performing a poor campaign in the Liga Profesional, accumulating only six points in eight games. On away turf, El Fortin are winless in their last four domestic matches, having recorded two draws and two losses since beating Colon 2-1 in May.
Both are at the bottom 5 places of this competition, Lanus has one of the 3 worst defenses in the league with 13 goals conceded in 8 games and I can’t imagine neither of them holding much since at this point a draw is pretty much like a defeat for both.
