Gimnasia vs Patronato
Gimnasia LP opened up their league campaign earning a valuable 1-1 away draw in the city derby at Estudiantes last Sunday. Striker Cristian Tarragona netted the equaliser in the second half. El Lobo are now on five league games without defeat, having won four and drawn one, which places them into the Copa Sudamericana zone in the aggregate table. In fact, El Lobo succumbed to a single defeat across their last nine matches at Estadio Juan Carmelo Zerillo, winning five and drawing three in the process.
Patronato took their first point in the Liga Profesional 2022 after a 1-1 home draw against Velez Sarsfield in an intense game last Saturday. Therefore, the team managed a single victory across their last seven in league action (drawing one and losing five) and made it only 11 points in the whole season, which places them bottom in the relegation table. On the road, El Patron lost three of their last four league matches, just beating San Lorenzo in that spell (2-1 in April).
If Gimnasia wants to achieve anything this semester, winning at home against this Patronato that will be very likely relegated is a must.
