Libertad (Paraguay) vs Boca Juniors (Argentina)
Libertad succumbed to a 2-0 away defeat to Boca Juniors three weeks ago. As a result, Eduardo Villalba’s men need to take at least a two-goal lead without scoring to reach the penalty shootout. In the league, El Gumarelo has improved lately: on Friday, they beat Sol de America 2-0 away to make it three wins in a row. That also means they climbed into third spot on 11 points, five behind leaders Olimpia. Libertad is on three home matches unbeaten, having won the last two.
Boca Juniors will advance to the Copa Libertadores’ quarter-finals even losing by a one-goal margin following their 2-0 home victory over Libertad in the first leg thanks to goals from Ramon Abila and Mauro Zarate. However, El Xeneize has been irregular in the league, booking one win, one defeat and one draw (0-0 at Huracan last Sunday). Boca are winless in their last ten away matches in all competitions, with seven draws and three defeats since beating Banfield 1-0 in February.
Boca seems to have a better potential than Libertad and they made it clear in the first leg and tonight they will have back last year’s top scorer Dario Benedetto who is back after a long term injury. Libertad was very close to score in the 1st leg, and with nothing to lose they should go all out tonight so an open game should be expected.
