Argentinos Jrs vs Gimnasia
Argentinos Juniors are now on five league games without a win (having taken only two points in that time) following their devastating 2-0 away defeat at Velez Sarsfield last Tuesday. El Bicho continue producing an irregular campaign, accumulating 26 points in 22 matches, and continue wasting opportunities of approaching the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate table (they are now trailing next opponents, who occupy the last qualifying berth, by four points). To make matters worse, Argentinos won only one of their last four home matches in this competition, drawing one and losing two. Centre back Miguel Torren is suspended after seeing a red card at Velez Sarsfield.
Gimnasia LP are improving game after game. Last Tuesday, they managed to beat Talleres 5-2 at home in an entertaining encounter. El Lobo registered their fifth victory across the last eight league games, drawing two and losing only one. Following this positive streak, they made it 34 points in the league table and climbed into one of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate standings. Furthermore, Gimnasia are unbeaten in their last five away matches, having claimed four victories and one draw in that span.
Gimnasia should be the more motivated team here as they are fighting for a place in Copa Sudamericana, plus they are in much better form so I expect them not to lose here.
