Rosario Central vs River
With striker Marco Ruben netting a hat-trick, Rosario Central managed to beat Colon 4-1 away last Thursday. Cristian Gonzalez’s men made it two consecutive victories in the Liga Profesional to accumulate 30 points in that table. The important thing is that they continue fighting for a ticket to the Copa Sudamericana 2022, trailing the last qualifying berth in the aggregate standings by only one point. Furthermore, El Canalla are on three consecutive victories at their own stadium, having beaten Patronato, Racing Club and Atletico Tucuman consecutively.
River Plate lifted their 37th league title (the first one since May 2014) last Thursday thanks to a solid 4-0 home success over Racing Club. With three rounds to go, Marcelo Gallardo’s men are the deserved champions after 17 league games unbeaten (14 wins and three draws) and accumulating 52 points, 12 more than second-placed Defensa y Justicia and Talleres. On the road, El Millonario are on eight matches without defeat in this competition, having won six and drawn two.
River are already the champions and they should be relaxed but still dangerous against this Rosario Central that won’t have their goalkeeper and must win to climb back into the Copa Sudamericana zone, so I have to expect a very open game here.
