San Lorenzo extended their winning streak to three league matches last time out, when beating newly-promoted side Platense 4-2 away in an entertaining game. As a result of this remarkable run, El Ciclon climbed from 12th to fifth spot in group A on 14 points, one behind Racing Club who occupy the last playoff berth. On Tuesday 13, San Lorenzo drew 2-2 against Santos away in Brazil, which means they were knocked out of the Copa Libertadores after losing 5-3 on aggregate in the third preliminary round. The team beat Rosario Central 2-0 at home two weeks ago, which broke a three-match winless run of one draw and two defeats at Estadio Pedro Bidegain in the Copa Liga Profesional.
Argentinos Juniors wasted several goal scoring opportunities last Sunday and had to settle for a scoreless home draw against CA Central Cordoba in an intense game.
