Agustin Almendra’s strike in the first half allowed Boca Juniors to celebrate a hard-fought 1-0 away win at Defensa y Justicia in an even game last time out. As a result, the team remain unbeaten and opened a three-point gap above second-placed Argentinos Juniors at the top of the league table (21 to 18). At home, Boca collected four points from 12 on offer so far following two victories and two draws. Boca Juniors right back Julio Buffarini saw a red card at Defensa y Justicia and is suspended, as is Ivan Marcone after reaching the yellow-card limit.
Racing Club are improving week after week. Having beaten Aldosivi 2-0 at home two weeks ago, defending league champions continue to climb positions in the league table (they are now in seventh on 16 points) after six matches unbeaten (four victories and two draws). La Academia haven’t yet lost on away turf, but they only managed one success, along with three stalemates.
