Manchester United have improved for sure, they look a much better team but I am slightly shocked just how the market rates them tonight v Southampton, since the resumption of football they drew 1-1 with Spurs and were the better team, beat Sheffield United 3-0, best Brighton 3-0 beat Bournemouth 5-2 and then beat Villa 3-0, however, bar Spurs they now face a side who are better than all the rest (Yes even Sheffield United) tonight. Southampton has been impressive of late, they beat Man City 1-0 and then followed it up by drawing with Everton 1-1 in a game they should have won with the Expected goals backing this up and with Southampton coming out 2.30 v 0.67. I thought for a long period of time in the Aston Villa game United looked quite ordinary, however, they got a very soft penalty that should never have been given and that changed the game, Villa shallow confidence was shattered and United ran out comfortable winners in the end but Villa stuck the post at 0-0 and things would have been different in my opinion if they had taken the lead. Betting is a numbers game and you can bet Southampton +1.75 at 1.83 currently which is a big value in my book, I have given United an extra 3% for a higher level of motivation and I still make Southampton value. The team news is slightly positive for the Saints with Vestergaard coming back from Injury and everybody who featured in the last match v Everton is fit again. Southampton +1.75 is the bet for me tonight, I think United have improved but not improved by as much as the market currently suggests they have.
