Banfield managed an important victory on their visit to Estudiantes, winning 1-0 thanks to a goal from young striker Julian Carranza. That result stopped a five-game winless streak of two draws and three defeats. The team will reach the Superliga Cup’s round-of-16 if they avoid the defeat at home.
Estudiantes’ four-match unbeaten streak of two successes and two draws has come to an end last weekend when the team suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Banfield. That means they need to win on away turf to keep their hope alive. El Pincha has however claimed a single victory in their last nine away matches (1-0 over Huracan), along with four draws and four defeats. Estudiantes coach Gabriel Milito will be without Lucas Albertengo as the striker succumbed to a muscle problem.
Banfield was clearly the better team in their away win of the 1st leg, and even though they don’t need to win here because a draw would be enough, they are overdue to get a win at home and this looks like a good opportunity for them.
