Lanus return to the Copa Sudamericana (which they lifted in 2013) after finishing last league season in 11th. But the team are doing much better this term. Last Friday, they registered a scoreless draw at Argentinos to remain sitting in the third spot of the Superliga table on 33 points and they would qualify for the Copa Libertadores 2021 if it was the end of the season. El Granate lost only one of their last five competitive matches, winning two and drawing two. At home, they suffered a single defeat in their last nine, with successes and two stalemates.
Universidad Catolica performed an excellent campaign last year, finishing in third place in the league table (and losing in the quarter-finals) while they made it to the round-of-16 in this competition. The domestic competition has not yet started in 2020: the team won only once in their last six competitive matches last term (drawing three and losing two). On away turf, they beat Liga Deportiva Universitaria 3-2 in their last game to stop a four-match winless run (two draws and two defeats).
Lanus should have enough to claim a home win here especially with the visitors missing Minda and De Los Santos, their two centre backs.
