Colon (Argentina) vs Sao Paulo (Brazil)
A brilliant night by San Lorenzo’s goalkeeper on Wednesday prevented us from getting two goals in that game, but I have to insist with such low lines tonight.
Colon made history two weeks ago as they were the first Argentine squad to win at Morumbi Stadium, and they did it via a 1-0 scoreline thanks to Matias Fritzler’s goal with just ten minutes to go. The team will advance to the round of 16 if they avoid the defeat in their home leg. In the league, El Sabalero went on to draw 0-0 with Patronato away, even though they fielded their best XI. That makes it four competitive matches without a defeat (two wins and two draws in regular time). However, Colon grabbed just one point from the last six available at their own stadium.
Sao Paulo’s 14-game unbeaten home run has been stopped on August 2nd when they lost to Colon 1-0. However, they keep their standards up in the league as Diego Aguirre’s men beat Sport Recife 3-1 away last Sunday. That result allowed them to remain as Brasileirao leaders with 38 points in 18 games (one above Flamengo). Sao Paulo claimed four victories in their last five away games, just losing to Gremio.
Sao Paulo seems the better side in general terms and it was a matter of bad luck that they didn’t score in the 1st leg at home.
I expect that to happen here, I don’t think that Colon can keep them scoreless in two games, and I like the very low totals line here.
