Colon reached the Copa Sudamericana’s round-of-16 by beating River Plate from Uruguay 3-1 at home in May (also 3-1 on aggregate). It was the team’s last competitive game, considering they had been knocked out of the Superliga Cup in the first round against Tigre. However, El Sabalero succumbed to a single defeat in their last six matches, having won three and drawn two of them. At home, they are on six games unbeaten, winning two and drawing four since that 1-0 defeat to Banfield in February.
A few days after their 1-0 away loss at Boca Juniors in the Superliga Cup’s semi-finals, Argentinos Juniors managed to keep a clean sheet at Deportes Tolima in Colombia and drew 0-0 to advance to this round following a 1-0 aggregate result. Apart from that defeat, El Bicho won two and drew three of their last six games in all competitions. On a sorry note though, they claimed only one success in their last seven away encounters (at Gimnasia LP 2-1), drawing three and losing three in that span.
Even though both teams could be a bit rusty from the offseason, both have enough attacking power to generate good football. Also, I can see Colon going forward to get a good difference in the 1st leg, and the first time use of the VAR for this two teams could also make for a more open game so I have to take the OVER on this very low line.
