Rosario Central are performing an uninspiring campaign in the Copa Libertadores. Two weeks ago, they lost 3-1 at Gremio in Brazil, which means the team earned a single point in four games. However, they still cling onto a tiny chance to qualify for the round-of-16. On Saturday, El Canalla has beaten Aldosivi 2-1 away in the Superliga Cup, but they still were knocked out following a 3-2 aggregate result. That win has however stopped a four-game losing run. Rosario Central are still winless at home in 2019, having booked four draws and four defeats.
Universidad Catolica wasted a big opportunity to approach the Copa Libertadores’ round-of-16 on April 10th, when losing to Libertad from Paraguay 3-2 at home. It also was their only defeat in the last ten competitive games as they won eight and drew one of them. On Saturday, Catolica beat Palestino 2-1 away to remain as league leaders on 22 points from 27 available (chased by Union La Calera and Union Espanola on 18). The team also won seven of their last eight away matches, losing the other.
Rosario is almost eliminated from everything while Universidad Catolica has to go for the win so a draw at Brazil could be enough to advance otherwise they would be forced to win that super tough game. I expect an open game with two teams that have to go for the 3 points.
