Tigre has regained hope since coach Nestor Gorosito’s arrival. They are still fighting to stay in the top flight after their 3-1 away at Talleres, having grabbed 13 points from 15 available in the league under the new boss’ tutelage (it has been six games unbeaten if we consider the 4-4 home draw with Banfield before Mariano Echeverria’s departure). Accumulating 32 points in the league table, El Matador remains to occupy one of the drop spots, three points behind Patronato who are safe. Tigre hasn’t lost at home this year, winning one and drawing three.
Racing Club needs only one more victory to be crowned as league champions. Last time out, they claimed a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Belgrano, with captain Lisandro Lopez scoring the winner in the first minute. Having won four and drawn one of the last five league games, La Academia remains at the top of the table on 55 points, four above second-placed Defensa y Justicia. On the road, they claimed seven points from 12 on offer this year.
Racing Club is the better side in the league, but Tigre is a more confident week after week. Neither can lose, and a draw could be useless for Tigre so I expect a very open game where both could go crazy if they concede.
