Last weekend, San Martin SJ got relegated after four years and a half in the top flight in spite of having beaten Talleres 2-1 at home as a result of Patronato’s success. Their useless victory has however stopped a seven-game winless streak of four draws and three defeats in the league, ending up the season in 21th on 25 points.
Talleres have run out of chances to qualify for the 2020 Copa Sudamericana after their 2-1 away defeat at San Martin SJ, which also was their third consecutive loss in the Superliga. Therefore, the team finished this term in 12th spot on 33 points. Prior to their recent slump, Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s men had been unbeaten in four away league games, winning two and drawing two. Talleres winger Sebastian Palacios is available as his suspension has been reduced.
Similar situation as the other game, the hosts are already relegated and thinking to rebuild for next season, while Talleres should be more focused. San Martin won when they met a week ago but this scenario is quite different as they were trying to avoid relegation back then.
